“Little-Wheel” or roulette, is an extremely exciting game involving bets on mathematical probability. The format is basically a numbered wheel shaped kind of like a bowl with each number being either red (odd) or black (even). Each number is a small pocket, which will eventually catch a ball that is spun in the opposite direction of the wheel. The roulette wheel is numbered from 1-38 in American versions and also features the double zero along with the zero pockets.
This gives the house extra advantage over its players. Early on while the game was still gaining popularity a German casino used only one zero in order to compete against other casinos using double zero versions. Bets can be placed inside or outside, which means they can be placed on a number or combination of numbers, odd or even numbers and colors. The history of roulette is not exact or certain. Some say it started in China by the country’s monks.
There are even legends that someone made a pact with the devil in order to learn the secrets of the game as the numbers equal 666 when added together. What is known is that France made the largest impact on bringing the game into the light. It was said that roulette was first invented in order to test mathematical probabilities. There are some early descriptions of the game being used in the Palais Royal in Paris. Today the game is a common staple among gamblers and is probably the most popular game in the gambling community.
